Welcome back STEM Families !

A message from our PTO President

Over the summer the PTO Executive Board met to come up with a very exciting calendar for the 2013-2014 school year! Some of the activities like the School Dance, Field Day, STEM Expo and Ice Cream Social are familiar to you all yet we plan to expand those activities and reach new heights in the coming school year. To do all this we need to grow our membership and volunteer participation.

We had the opportunity to meet many families at the Family Picnic and Meet/Greet Session on August 22nd from 12-3pm. At this event, the PTO continued the sale of donated used uniform tops and bottom as well as STEM logo items such as water bottles and lanyards. AF STEM 2012-2013 Yearbooks were also for sale at 1⁄2 price – only $10! In an effort to increase PTO membership, those families who completed the membership form received a free Sno-cone for each family member present at the event. And as always, there was plenty of music!

Membership and volunteers are key to keeping the PTO running strong. Please support your child’s school by becoming a member of the PTO for just $5/family. Consider donating an hour or two of your time to assist with an event from prep to cleanup, coordinating a fundraiser or counting Box Tops. We hope you and your families will come and enjoy yourselves at the many PTO/School functions. Let us know if you can help by contacting us at afstempto@gmail.com. Please let us know which activity you’d like to be involved in, the times you are available and a way for us to contact you.
Thanks in advance for your support. We look forward to an exciting school year!

Sincerely,
Daniel L. Durant Jr.
President, Annie Fisher STEM PTO

Summer Reading

“Children who don’t read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect.”

Ms. Andrea (School Librarian) has provided us with information about the Summer Reading Programs, as well as resources for locating good books. Visit Ms. Andrea’s Page.

We also have a Summer Reading Blog to share your favorite books or ideas to encourage learning throughout the summer! There are links to the programs on this page as well.
